Our homes and workplaces can change and support us throughout our lifetimes. When an environment is thoughtfully designed it can promote independence, confidence, health and dignity. I support people to make the best decisions regarding their current and future housing needs whilst acknowledging the very real financial constraints that are part of the adaptation process. I work closely with people so that they are aware of the options that are available to them and ensure they make the most of what their environment can offer them in the short and long term.
I have worked in environmental design and adaptation for over two decades and have completed numerous training courses and complete continuous upskilling in the area of environmental design and housing adaptations. I have also worked in a variety of settings including: Private Clients, Local Authority, Voluntary Agencies, Educational and Business settings.

What is my role in Housing and Environmental Design?

Telephone screen to ensure housing requests are achievable, reasonable and appropriate in the context of best practice guidelines.

Discuss the requirements and conditions that are attached to the Grant application system regarding certain adaptations such as stair-lift and ground floor adaptations.

Assess for suitability for stair-lifts including cognitive and physical presentation.

Assess for clinical criteria to support ground floor housing adaptations.

Provide functional and environmental support to comply and support housing grant monies.

Functional and environmental assessment for medical tenancies (HMD-Form 1).

Housing reports to support Housing Adaptation Grants for Older People.

Housing reports to support Mobility Aids Grant Scheme.

Liaise with building contractors and architects to ensure compliancy with Part M of the building regulations.

Ensure compliancy for disabled access for community, work and educational settings with national and international frameworks and legislation (Disability Act 2005, Equal Status Acts 2000-2018, Employment Equality Acts 1998-2015).
