About Me

Hello, my name is Róisín and I am a Senior Occupational Therapist. I graduated in 2005 from the first year of the professional qualifying Master's in Occupational Therapy at the University of Limerick. My work focuses on supporting people with their daily activities both at home and at work, enabling them to plan for their future and enjoy better health outcomes. I might use different strategies depending on the needs of the person, including adaptation, compensation, or education. I combine evidence-based interventions that are proven to work with an understanding that people need to be viewed holistically. This combination has allowed me to tailor my work to support people in real-world settings.

I understand that, at any one time, people are experiencing a different set of demands, constraints, strengths, and opportunities. Everyone has challenges in their life which can affect their health. People are managing chronic health conditions at home and in the workplace. I know that the combined pressures of everyday life can have a huge impact on health and quality of life. I believe that every person deserves to be met wherever they are in their own life and on their own personal health journey. I am very aware that people’s personal circumstances can often be complex and involve many different factors, which can change overnight.

I really enjoy the educational part of my work, which aims to support other Occupational Therapists in completing assessments and interventions in specific Occupational Therapy clinical areas. Passing on the support and mentorship I received during my career is very important to my practice. Providing mentorship and promoting skills training for Occupational Therapists, new graduates, and students is a very rewarding part of my job.
